New Google Penguin 2.0 Algorithm Will Dig Deeper – 22nd May Update

A year ago, Google came out with Penguin 1.0 update, which literally shocked all the webmasters, spammers and link builders. This update was completely unexpected by the SEOs, as they went on building spam links for all their websites to rank high in Google. Google web-spam team main goal was to take down all those websites which build spam links to increase their visibility in search engines. Penguin mainly focuses on enforcing websites to follow the Google’s quality guidelines algorithmically.

Millions of websites have lost their rankings in Google, and some websites were completely banned out of their search engine pages. Many people don’t know whether Google has really penalized their website from all the search engine pages, especially when they have built some natural and unnatural links. People eventually started sending link removal requests to all the website owners to remove the unnatural links pointing from their website.

Many people failed to recover from Penguin update, as the majority of the links built were massively targeting a group of keywords to rank up a website. Also you need to wait for months to see the actual recovery from Penguin updates. This freaked out people to start developing new websites with similar content. Google took a lot of time to update the new version of Penguin after the 3rd update on October 5, 2012. Google has rolled out the new penguin 2.0 yesterday (22nd May) where 2.3% of English-US queries are affected to the degree that a regular user might notice. This change has also finished rolling out for other languages through out the world. The languages with more web-spam will see more impact from Penguin 2.0 update.

Penguin 2.0 update is a brand new generation algorithm which digs deeper into a website. Previously, the earlier versions of Google Penguin updates might focus only on the Home page of a website to find out the unnatural links pointing to it. In fact this update will be more intensive than previous penguin versions, and will mainly focus on spammers and SEOs who practice back hat SEO techniques.

Already a lot of people are complaining about the rank drops and boosts from the past few hours. It would be better if you can wait a couple of days to see how it goes. According to some forums, people are observing the low quality websites in the first page of Google after the standard first 3 links. Many websites with no Page Rank, no Domain Authority and PA has ranked up surprisingly. Looking at some example queries, I’m surprised to see some spam pages coming from page 2 to page 1 gradually.
